Jollof Wars: Ghana vs Nigeria

The rivalry that transcends football - which country makes the best Jollof rice?

The Jollof Wars debate has been raging for decades across West Africa. While Ghana and Nigeria battle it out on the football pitch during AFCON 2026, the real competition happens in kitchens and at family gatherings. Nigerian Jollof typically features a smoky, party-style rice with a distinctive red hue from tomato paste and peppers. Ghanaian Jollof tends to be more orangish, often cooked with aromatic spices and sometimes includes vegetables. Both versions are absolutely delicious, and fans will surely be enjoying their preferred Jollof while watching the matches at screening venues across the UK.
